There’s something about the winter holiday busyness that makes me want to snuggle in, drink hot chocolate, and watch the snow fall. After all the family entertaining and year-end parties, it’s nice to take some time off for oneself or find some quiet away from the kids. I talked my husband into taking the kids for the next few hours, and I plan to INDULGE. Thankfully, pampering oneself these days can be healthy and delightful, on my mind because new year resolutions are prime in my mind right now.
Since moving into our new home, I have yet to submerse myself in our new bathtub, unlike my bubble loving girls. I have had plans, though, since laying eyes on the tub. The girls and my husband just left. Cue music. Cue fiction from the likes of Margaret Atwood, call me old school and a fan of the Hulu revival. A large cup of curried hot cocoa from Cocoa Cravings in Chicago that has an amazing cocoa, cardamom, cinnamon and clove powder mix.
Fun fact for all you health ingredient junkies like me! If you did not know, when consumed in normal amounts, clove, ginger, rosemary and turmeric allow one’s body to reduce inflammation (produce less TNF) compared to someone who has not consumed those spices. Watch this video to learn more. I don’t stop there, because I do anti-inflammatory self-care inside and out. Do you?
So to round out the curry theme, I’ve got our Turmeric Antioxidant Radiance Mask on. My skin is thanking me for this creamy leave-on mask to detox from winter heaters and too much partying. Plus, I’m also indulging in a detox bath soak of 1/3 cup of himalayan salt, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, epson salt and lavender essential oil. Right at the end of the bath, I take ten minutes of meditative breathing as recommended by this NYTimes article.
I’m a gratitude-filled, calm and ready to conquer the world and new year woman!
