Picture Perfect – The Celebrity Ritual

Celebrities have eyes on them all the time.

And there is so much pressure to be picture perfect. I mean, imagine if the paparazzi took pictures of you during your 10pm grocery store run for a tub of Ben & Jerry’s… the things they would capture on film.

So how do they do it?

Some celebrities get ‘caught’ being normal all the time. Makeup-less, sweatpants-wearing, just back from the gym sweaty people. But other celebrities (Jennifer Aniston for example) NEVER seem to take a bad photo. How is this possible?


That’s right, ladies. Maintenance. Taking care of your body and taking pride in your appearance at all times. And you can do it too! Here are 5 ways to ensure you’re picture perfect at all the right moments.

1. Treat Yourself

To an at-home facial at least once a week. Beautiful skin requires upkeep, and your skin deserves to be pampered weekly! Take 30-45 minutes to cleanse, apply a mask, massage, tone and moisturizer your face. Trust me, your skin will glow so much the next day that all the effort will be TOTALLY worth it.

2. Dress For Success

They say “dress for the job you want… not the job you have,” and whoever ‘they’ may be, I totally agree. It’s not about spending thousands of dollars on the most fashionable, off-the-runway designer wear. It’s about wearing clothes that make you feel beautiful, powerful and professional. When you’re having a bad day, dress for a good day and I promise that everything will look a little bit brighter 🙂

3. No Sweatpants


Unless you’re going to the gym, no sweatpants in public. I know this is a hard rule to follow, but working your way into a pair of jeans or a cute skirt to go to the mall or the grocery store does more than change your appearance; it also changes the way you think about yourself. Like our grandmothers did before us, change out of your pajamas before leaving the house. You’ll thank me if you run into your ex at the dry cleaners.

4. Walk Tall

Creating a Zen Work Environment



That’s a word we throw around a lot. “I’m feeling so stressed.” “My office is so stressful.” “I think I’m picking up on your stress.” It’s all around us in a seemingly unavoidable way.


But stress is dangerous.

Did you know that stress is the number one silent killer? Stress strains the body and mind, allowing other illnesses to creep in. Stress leads to insomnia, breakouts, heart problems, high blood pressure… the list goes on.

So how do we zap stress from our lives?

Most stress feelings start in the workplace, where the average American spends more than 1/2 of his/her waking hours each day! The best way to de-stress our lives is to de-stress our offices, and we’ve got a few fun ways (and fun accessories) to help make that happen.

1. Create a Drama Free Zone (Etsy Custom Design)

Whether you’re in a corner office or a barely-enough-room-for-a-chair cubicle, there is some piece of your workplace that is for you and you alone. Make that a safe space free from office drama. If a problem needs to be discussed, set up a time outside of your office to talk about it. Rent a conference room, grab a coffee, just get away. Keep your space stress free.

2. Stop Complaining ($42 Etsy)

Complaining breeds contempt, so stop doing it. At least not in the workplace. Sometimes things won’t be as awesome as you’d like them to be, but try not to let that outwardly affect your attitude. If you choose to take a positive view on the challenges you’re presented with, it will be MUCH easier to tackle them head on!

Even if it’s for 10 or 15 minutes, go outside. Get out during your lunch break, take a walk around the block, and breathe some fresh (questionable if you live in a major city) air. Feeling trapped inside all day will DEFINITELY increase your stress level, and it can even make you less productive.

In our office, when someone needs quiet time to work or think they say “My garage door is closed” aka “Please don’t talk to me right now.” Setting boundaries for yourself and your coworkers is vital to productivity, and the more productive you are during work the less stressed you’ll be after hours.

5. Set a Lunch Date ($18 Amazon)

If you are given a full lunch hour, take it. At least when you can. It’s important to be social during the day… just not when you’re trying to get your work done. Taking an hour to clear your mind and spend social time with your coworkers or friends (if they work nearby- no one says you can’t meet your friends for lunch!) is a great way to break up your day.

6. Remember – You Love What You Do ($14.95 Etsy)

And if you don’t, you should do something else. We spend more time at work and with our coworkers than we do with our friends and loved ones, so if you don’t love what you do you should look for a new career. Work should be fun! It will also be hard and trying and stressful at times. At the end of the day if you love and believe in what you do, it’s not all that bad.

60 Second Lunch: 6 Twists on PB&J


The simplest, scrumscious-est (I just made that word up), sandwich out there. Kids and adults alike enjoy the crunchy, salty, sweet mix of PB&J. But as great as this lunch option is, eating PB&J every day can get a bit… stale. Which is why we’re bringing you:

6 Spins On The Classic Sandwich


1. AB&B (Almond Butter & Banana)


With less sugar and fat than the classic, AB&B is the health conscious PB&J lover’s option. Spread both sides of the bread with protein/iron rich Almond Butter, then slice a potassium filled Banana on top. Close your sandwich up and take your first delicious, fiber-y bite.

2. N&SB (Nutella & Strawberry)


The N&SB is a recent addition to the PB&J family, and it was an instant hit. Succulent, chocolatey Nutella compliments fresh, sweet strawberry in an Italian (sort of?) version of this American classic.

3. CO&J (Coconut Oil & Jelly)


I guess this is more of a toast than a straight sandwich, but I feel strongly that it still counts. Toast both pieces of bread and spread a dollop of coconut oil on to both sides. Add your favorite jelly (I personally love raspberry preserves) and enjoy!

PS This would also taste AMAZING on an english muffin.

4. PB & A (Peanut Butter & Apples)


This is a cross between the classic Peanut Butter & Banana sandwich and Apples Dipped in Peanut Butter snack. It’s definitely the crunchiest PB&J family sandwich I’ve ever tried (you can make it even more so with crunchy peanut butter), and it’s a great one to pack for lunch because it does not get soggy. Ever.

5. PB & C & H (Peanut Butter & Cinnamon & Honey)


This is definitely more of a snack sandwich than a lunch sandwich, but either way it’s super scrumptious. Spread both sides of the bread with Peanut Butter, add a sprinkle of Cinnamon and a drizzle of Honey.

PS This would taste GREAT toasted!

6. PB&J on a B (Peanut Butter & Jelly on a Bagel)


This is MY FAVORITE off all of the PB&J varieties. Especially if you toast that bagel up first just slightly, so that the inside is still chewy but the outside is crunchy. This is not a variety I would recommend making at home, however, because your local bagel store can probably make it 100x better.
